Musical Chairs is a vibrant American IPA that showcases a silky-smooth texture derived from its New Zealand influence. The sensory profile is dominated by a quartet of southern hemisphere hops: Nectaron, Motueka, Riwaka, and Rakau. Expect an intense aromatic burst of ripe nectarines and stone fruits, complemented by the sharp, zesty punch of fresh lime and tart gooseberries. Despite its robust strength, the beer maintains a high level of drinkability with a clean fermentation profile. The interplay between the lush tropical fruit notes and a firm, refreshing bitterness creates a complex yet balanced experience that finishes crisp and bright.

Appearance. Deep golden color (approx. 7-8 SRM) with a slight, persistent haze. Features a medium-sized, creamy white head with excellent retention and significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet. Dominant notes of nectarine and peach from Nectaron and Rakau are layered with fresh lime zest from Motueka and a distinctively pungent gooseberry character from Riwaka. Supporting malt is low and neutral, presenting as light crackery grain with no caramel; fermentation is clean.

Taste. Immediate wave of tropical and stone fruits, specifically ripe nectarine, lime juice, and white grape. The flavor leads into a medium-high bitterness that is firm but clean. A low, grainy malt presence provides a soft foundation without residual sweetness. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering citrus and resinous hop aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Medium-bodied with a notably silky, smooth texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a refreshing prickle. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without any harshness or astringency.

Baxbier Brewery werd in 2014 opgericht door wielervrienden Jeroen Bax en Sepp Jansen. Wat uit nieuwsgierigheid thuis in de keuken begon werd al snel veel meer dan dat. Na de succesvolle lancering van inmiddels moderne klassiekers als Koudvuur, Abel’s Ale en natuurlijk de bieren uit de Kon Minder-lijn staat er inmiddels een moderne, eigen brouwerij met proeflokaal aan het water. Ruim 15 mensen werken elke dag hard aan de mooiste bieren, het lekkerste eten en de leukste evenementen. Baxbier staat bekend om zijn liefde voor spelen en experimenteren.
