A vibrant session-strength take on the flagship Double IPA, this American IPA delivers a high-impact hop profile with a refreshing, lean structure. Bright tropical fruit aromas of mango and passion fruit, driven by the signature use of Citra and Mosaic hops, lead into a palate defined by citrus zest and light resinous pine. The malt presence is intentionally restrained, offering just enough clean, grainy support to balance a firm bitterness. Despite its lower gravity, the beer maintains a smooth texture and a crisp, dry finish, perfectly capturing the essence of its stronger predecessor in a more approachable format.
Appearance. Pale gold (5 SRM) with a slight, soft haze. Topped by a medium-sized, brilliant white head with good persistence and delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring pronounced tropical fruit, tangerine, and grapefruit pith. Low, clean, grainy-sweet maltiness provides a neutral backdrop, while a very light floral yeast ester is detectable in the finish.
Taste. Leading with high hop flavors of citrus peel and tropical fruit, followed by a medium-high bitterness that remains clean. Low grainy malt flavor with no caramel or toast. The finish is medium-dry and crisp, leaving a lingering hoppy aftertaste of pine and citrus.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, soft texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a refreshing effervescence without any harshness. No alcohol warmth is perceived.
