Chaos delivers an intense sensory experience, leading with a saturated hop profile driven by Cryo Citra, Cryo Amarillo, and Cryo Motueka. This Double IPA bursts with vibrant layers of zesty lime, crushed pineapple, and bright orange oil, balanced by an underlying resinous depth. The complex malt bill, featuring Golden Promise and Maris Otter, provides a rich, bready foundation, while Vienna and Munich malts add a subtle toasted warmth that supports the 8% ABV. It finishes exceptionally clean and dry, allowing a lingering, firm bitterness to persist alongside a nuanced tropical fruitiness, exemplifying a modern, high-impact Double IPA.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (8–11 SRM). Large, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. Generally clear, though a very slight hop-induced haze is acceptable for the style.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma dominated by citrus and tropical fruit. Prominent notes of lime zest from Motueka, grapefruit and passionfruit from Cryo Citra, and floral orange from Cryo Amarillo. The malt presents a supportive, clean, grainy-sweetness with light toasted notes from the Munich and Vienna malts. Low esters and clean fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a punch of tropical and citrus hop flavors—notably lime, orange, and melon. Bitterness is high but smooth, avoiding harshness. The malt character is soft yet complex, offering a bready, slightly nutty backbone from the Maris Otter and Golden Promise. Finishes dry with a lingering hoppy and resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, velvety texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. A well-integrated, restrained alcohol warmth is present, reflecting the 8% strength without being solventy or hot.
