Basquery / Drunken Bros / Mala Gissona O’Riley

Extra-Strong Bitter 5.6 º 38 IBU
O’Riley captures the transatlantic spirit of a Strong Bitter with its Brooklyn Edition twist, balancing classic English refinement with American punch. This collaboration pours a brilliant deep copper, releasing a complex bouquet where earthy, floral English hops intertwine with the brighter, resinous notes of American hop varieties. The malt profile is robust and structurally sound, offering layers of toasted biscuit and rich caramel that support a firm, assertive bitterness. Medium-bodied and exceptionally smooth, it pays homage to the legendary band The Who with a performance that is both melodic and powerful. A subtle fruity ester profile lingers through a dry, clean finish, making this an eminently drinkable yet substantial ale.
Appearance. Deep copper color (14 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a moderate, creamy off-white head that demonstrates good retention and leaves delicate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. Moderate-high intensity featuring a complex blend of earthy and floral English hops alongside resinous and citrusy American hop notes. The malt presents a medium-high character of toasted bread, biscuit, and moderate caramel. Low fruity esters are present, with no diacetyl.
Taste. Initial impression is balanced between malt sweetness and hop bitterness. Bready, toasty, and nutty malt flavors are complemented by moderate caramel and toffee notes. Hop flavor is moderate-high, displaying floral, earthy, and resinous qualities. Bitterness is firm and noticeable but allows the malt to shine. Finishes medium-dry with lingering earthy hop notes and moderate fruity esters.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present. Smooth mouthfeel with no astringency and a clean, refreshing delivery.
