Basqueland Tropicana
This vibrant American IPA highlights a lush tropical profile driven by a potent dry-hop trio. El Dorado provides foundational notes of sweet watermelon and stone fruit, while Vic Secret introduces sharp pineapple and a hint of resinous pine. Rakau rounds out the bouquet with luscious orchard fruit and apricot. Despite its session-leaning ABV, the beer maintains the hallmark bitterness of the style, balanced by a clean, light grainy malt base. The fermentation is neutral, allowing the Southern Hemisphere and American hop character to dominate from the initial aromatic punch through to a crisp, lingering finish.
Appearance. Medium gold (7 SRM). Bright white, medium-sized head with good persistence and light lacing. Generally clear, though a very slight hop-derived haze is present.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by pineapple, passionfruit, and stone fruit. Secondary notes of watermelon and a faint resinous pine. Low, clean, bready maltiness provides a neutral backdrop. Clean fermentation profile with no significant esters.
Taste. Strong initial impression of tropical fruit including pineapple and apricot. Low, grainy-sweet malt flavor supports a medium-high bitterness that is firm but not harsh. Features hop flavors of melon and pine that lead into a dry, crisp finish. The aftertaste is hoppy and bitter with lingering fruit notes.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, soft texture. Moderate to medium-high carbonation provides a refreshing bite. No perceptible alcohol warmth and zero astringency.
