This assertive Double IPA delivers a high-intensity sensory experience led by a hefty hop trio. Mosaic provides unmistakable notes of ripe blueberry, while Motueka contributes a bright, zesty lime-lemon character. The addition of Nelson Sauvin introduces an intense, complex diesel and vinous aroma that defines the profile. Despite its 10% ABV, the beer remains well-balanced, featuring a clean malt backbone that supports the robust hop saturation without becoming heavy. The result is a harmonious blend of tropical and citrus fruit flavors, delivering a satisfyingly intense mouthfeel and a lingering, clean bitterness designed for the most discerning palates.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper in color (SRM 7-10). It features a moderate-sized, persistent, off-white head with excellent lacing and exhibits a slight haze common in heavily dry-hopped modern versions.
Aroma. Intense hop-forward aroma featuring prominent notes of blueberry, lime zest, and crushed gooseberry, underscored by a characteristic diesel-like complexity. A supportive, neutral, and grainy malt character sits quietly in the background with a clean fermentation profile and a hint of smooth alcohol.
Taste. A spectacular punch of hop flavors dominates the initial impression, highlighting berries, citrus, and tropical fruit. The malt flavor is low but supportive, offering a clean, soft cracker-like base. It possesses a firm bitterness that is well-integrated and lacks harshness. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, harmonious aftertaste of citrus oils and resin.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, satisfying texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing enough lift to balance the density. A noticeable but restrained and smooth alcohol warmth is present, reflecting its high strength without any harsh astringency.
