Basqueland's Sour Saison presents a vibrant interpretation of a Straight Sour Beer, bridging the gap between farmhouse traditions and clean lactic acidity. It delivers a refreshing, lemony punch supported by a delicate grain bill featuring pale Pilsner and wheat malts. The aroma is sharply sour with distinctive notes of tart apple and apricot esters. On the palate, a crisp, crackery malt base balances the bright acidity, leading to an exceptionally dry finish. Effervescent carbonation elevates the citrus character, making it a highly drinkable seasonal offering that focuses on pure, tart refreshment without any Brettanomyces funk.

Appearance. Very pale straw (2–3 SRM). Clarity is slightly hazy. Large, dense, white head with moderate to poor retention typical of low-pH beers; highly effervescent.

Aroma. High intensity lactic sourness leads the profile, presenting as clean and sharp lemon-like acidity. Moderate fruity esters suggesting tart green apple and stone fruit. Low malt aroma of fresh crackers or white bread. No hop aroma.

Taste. Initial impression is dominated by a clean lactic sourness. Light, grainy, and biscuity malt flavor provides a subtle foundation. Hop bitterness is undetectable. Pale fruit character including citrusy lemon and tart apple is prominent. Finish is dry and clean with no lingering sweetness or vinegary harshness.
