Basqueland’s Ripple Effect is a vibrant Hazy IPA that prioritizes a lush, pillowy texture through a base of extra pale malt, flaked oats, and chit malt. A heavy double dry-hop of Citra, Comet, Strata, and Galaxy creates a concentrated wave of ripe melon and tropical passion fruit. This aromatic intensity is softened by a unique marshmallow fluff quality, adding a hint of perceived sweetness without sacrificing drinkability. The result is a modern, juice-forward ale where the complex interplay of Southern Hemisphere and American hops produces a deep, multi-layered fruit profile that lingers across a smooth, low-bitterness finish.
Appearance. Straw to deep gold (4–6 SRM). Opaque with a characteristic hazy shine; no visible particulates. Topped by a persistent, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by tropical passion fruit and sweet melon. Distinctive marshmallow and vanilla-like sweet notes from the hop combination. Background malt is clean and lightly bready, with no caramel or toast. Fermentation is clean with supportive fruity esters.
Taste. High tropical fruit flavors; prominent passion fruit and honeydew melon. Low to medium-low perceived bitterness that is well-masked by the soft malt profile. Lightly bready malt character supports the hop saturation. Finishes off-dry to medium, clean, and juicy, with a lingering fruit aftertaste devoid of hop harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable pillowy or fluffy texture from the oats and chit malt. Medium carbonation. Smooth and soft on the palate with very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth. No astringency or raw starch sensation.
