This vibrant Double IPA showcases a modern New Zealand hop profile, featuring Nelson Sauvin and Nectaron. The sensory experience is amplified by thiolized components, resulting in an intense aromatic burst of ripe cantaloupe melon, white grape, and succulent red berries. A bold, pale malt base supports the high hop intensity without competing, while the fermentation character remains clean and unobtrusive. On the palate, a characteristic dank quality emerges, balanced by a firm bitterness that transitions into a satisfyingly persistent finish. Appearance. Pale gold to light amber (6-8 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent white head that exhibits good lacing. Clarity is clear to slightly hazy, reflecting its modern pale malt base.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by white grape, cantaloupe melon, and ripe red berries. A distinct resinous, dank character is present alongside subtle tropical notes from thiolized compounds. Malt is low and neutral, providing a clean, grainy backdrop with a very light fruity fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of tropical fruit and vinous character. Flavors of white grape and melon lead into a mid-palate of red berries and resinous dankness. Malt flavor is low and clean, supporting a moderately high hop bitterness that is firm but not harsh. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering, resinous, and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth is present, with no harsh hop-derived astringency.
