This Hazy IPA from Basqueland Brewing presents a vibrant, juice-forward profile defined by its saturated tropical fruit character. At 7.3% ABV, it balances a lush, pillowy body with high-intensity aromas of ripe mango, passion fruit, and bright citrus zest. The mouthfeel is notably soft and rounded, a result of the high chloride water profile and flaked grains, which mask the moderate bitterness. Clean, bready malt provides a subtle foundation, allowing the hop-derived esters to shine without distraction. It finishes with a lingering, smooth fruitiness and just a hint of warming alcohol, encapsulating the juicy essence of the style.
Appearance. Deep straw to golden-yellow (SRM 4–6). Opaque haze with a luminous shine; persistent, rocky, meringue-like white head with high retention and dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit (mango, pineapple), stone fruit (peach), and citrus (tangerine). Clean, grainy, and lightly bready malt background with no caramel or toast. Clean fermentation with supportive fruity esters.
Taste. High to very high fruity hop flavor featuring tropical and citrus notes. Low bready malt flavor. Low to medium-high perceived bitterness that is well-masked by a soft, off-dry finish. No harshness or astringency in the fruit-forward aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably smooth, soft, and plush texture. Moderate carbonation. Noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth consistent with its strength. No acidic twang or raw starchiness.
