Basqueland Brewing

This West Coast IPA delivers an uncompromising sensory experience rooted in a lean malt foundation of Extra Pale and Crystal P50. Fermented with California Ale yeast for a bone-dry finish, the beer serves as a pristine canvas for a vibrant New Zealand hop profile. Cold-side additions of Wai-iti, Motueka, and Wakatu hops erupt with a multifaceted citrus bouquet, dominated by zesty mandarin peel and sharp grapefruit. A playful, candy-like sweetness threads through the mid-palate, contrasting the firm bitterness and bright, resinous clarity. It is an intense and direct exploration of hop-forward freshness that remains remarkably crisp from start to finish.

Appearance. Brilliantly clear, deep gold with vibrant highlights. Pours with a dense, persistent off-white head that leaves significant lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring punchy lime, mandarin orange peel, and fresh grapefruit. Subtle tropical notes and a distinct candy-like sweetness are supported by a clean, low-intensity background of crackery malt and a hint of caramel. Fermentation is exceptionally clean with no noticeable esters.

Taste. Initial citrus impact of grapefruit and zesty lime, followed by the bright sweetness of mandarin. The malt provides a crisp, grainy backbone with a touch of honeyed sweetness before a firm, assertive bitterness takes over. The finish is bone-dry and clean, leaving a lingering trail of citrus peel and resinous hop character.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is moderately high, enhancing the beer's refreshing brightness. Alcohol provides a very subtle, well-integrated warmth without any harshness or astringency.
