Basqueland Journey is a vibrant Double IPA that delivers a concentrated tropical profile reminiscent of passion fruit, orange, and guava juice. The sensory experience is led by an intense dry-hop regimen of Simcoe, Kohia Nelson SubZero, and Kohia Motueka SubZero, which provide high-intensity notes of ripe berries and a distinctive herbal dankness. A foundation of Pilsner and chit malts, supplemented by oats and wheat, creates a bright, pale appearance with a remarkably fluffy, creamy texture. This modern interpretation balances the sharp, resinous lúpulo character with a smooth, lush finish that highlights the unique passion fruit-infused hop kiefs.
Appearance. Pale gold (approx. 4-6 SRM); bright, pale clarity with a persistent, dense white head and significant lacing.
Aroma. Intense tropical fruit punch (passion fruit, guava, orange) dominates. Secondary notes of resinous dankness and ripe mixed berries follow. Malt is low and neutral, providing a clean, grainy, pilsner-like background with a hint of bready wheat.
Taste. High-intensity hop flavors of passion fruit, lime, and citrus orange. A firm but smooth hop bitterness is balanced by a soft, bready malt backbone. The finish is medium-dry, showcasing a complex interplay of berry notes and herbal resin that lingers pleasantly without harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creaminess and fluffy texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. Features a smooth, restrained alcohol warmth at 8% ABV with no hop-derived astringency.
