This Double IPA presents a bold, modern interpretation of the style, emphasizing a strawberry smoothie profile over traditional bitterness. Brewed with Lager malts, oat flakes, and chit malt, it creates a remarkably silky, hazy foundation that supports an explosion of ripe tropical fruit and zesty lime. The aromatic intensity is high, dominated by juicy berry and citrus hop character. Despite its 8% ABV, the beer remains surprisingly mellow and balanced, eschewing aggressive IBUs for a soft, luscious mouthfeel and a clean, fruit-forward finish that captures the vibrant, playful spirit of its namesake. Appearance. Pale gold to light orange (approx 6-8 SRM). Hazy and opaque with a thick, persistent white head and heavy lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of strawberry, ripe mango, and passion fruit, accented by a bright lime zest. Supportive, clean, and neutral grainy maltiness from the Lager malt in the background. Lightly fruity fermentation esters.
Taste. Juicy and fruit-dominant with flavors of sweet berry and tropical stone fruit. Very low bitterness, departing from traditional style norms to provide a soft, mellow profile. Supportive, soft malt character from oat flakes and chit malt provides a smooth backbone. Finishes clean with a lingering fruity aftertaste and no harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable silky, creamy texture. Moderate carbonation. Soft, well-integrated alcohol warmth from the 8% ABV. No astringency.
