This decadent Imperial Stout artfully replicates its namesake dessert, offering a luxurious sensory experience defined by its velvety, viscous texture. Intense aromas of vanilla and caramel lead the way, evoking a crackling caramelized sugar crust layered over a foundation of dark chocolate and espresso. On the palate, the high-gravity malt base provides a deep richness where the sweetness of caramel harmonizes with a subtle roasted backbone and a gentle alcohol warmth. Appearance. Opaque, jet black (40+ SRM). Pours with a thick, dense, dark tan head; high viscosity and high alcohol content are visible as slow-descending legs on the side of the glass.
Aroma. High intensity; prominent notes of natural vanilla and rich caramel dominate, strongly evoking a caramelized sugar crust. Supporting these are deep roasted malt layers of bittersweet chocolate and coffee, with low dark fruit esters such as raisins and a smooth alcohol presence.
Taste. Decadent initial impression of sweet caramel and vanilla custard. The mid-palate reveals layers of rich roasted malt, cocoa, and a subtle toasted grain character. Perceived bitterness is low to moderate, effectively balanced by the heavy residual sweetness. The finish is long, sweet, and lingering, featuring persistent notes of burnt sugar.
Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and chewy with a velvety, luscious texture that coats the tongue. Carbonation is low to moderate. A smooth, integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable but refined, adding to the overall richness without being hot.
