Basqueland Circular Fiction
Circular Fiction is a vibrant American IPA that harmonizes intense hop character with lush additions of peach and passion fruit. A complex dry-hop blend featuring Mosaic, AU 035, Loral, and Ella drives a multi-layered sensory profile. Mosaic provides signature notes of blueberry and tropical fruit, while Ella and AU 035 contribute spice and floral depth. Loral adds a refined herbal and citrus touch that bridges the gap between the hop oils and the bright, tart punch of real passion fruit and succulent peach. The addition of lactose softens the assertive bitterness typical of the style, creating a creamy, rounded, and intensely fruit-forward experience.
Appearance. Medium gold with a noticeable haze from fruit solids and dry-hopping; features a persistent, creamy off-white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics of fresh peach and tangy passion fruit. The hop profile adds layers of mango and citrus from Mosaic, while Loral and Ella provide floral and spicy undertones. A light, sweet milky note from lactose supports the fruit, atop a clean, low grainy malt base.
Taste. Initial burst of tropical passion fruit and stone fruit peach, followed by Mosaic-driven berry and citrus hop flavors. Moderate bitterness is present but smoothed by the residual sweetness of lactose. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering fruit puree and herbal hop aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with an enhanced silkiness and creaminess due to the lactose. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle prickle, while the 6.5% alcohol offers a very light, well-integrated warmth without any astringency.
