Basqueland’s Chocolate Clouds is a decadent Imperial Stout that pours like liquid silk, dominated by the rich, earthy essence of Ecuadorian cocoa roasted by artisan Rafa Gorrotxategi. The sensory journey begins with an aromatic explosion of dark chocolate and pillowy marshmallows, evoking a gourmet dessert profile. On the palate, the intense cocoa depth is balanced by a sweet, candy-like marshmallow character and subtle notes of dark fruit. The high alcohol provides a smooth, integrated warmth that complements the thick, velvety texture. It finishes with a harmonious blend of bittersweet roast and lingering confectionery sweetness, defining a luxurious pastry-inspired experience.

Appearance. Opaque jet black (40+ SRM) with a dense, creamy, dark tan head. High viscosity is apparent through prominent legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity aroma of bittersweet dark chocolate, cocoa powder, and sweet vanilla marshmallow. Background notes of roasted coffee, black currants, and a clean, warming alcohol presence.

Taste. Initial rich sweetness leads into intense flavors of Ecuadorian cocoa and toasted marshmallow. Mid-palate reveals layers of dark fruit, such as raisins and plums, supported by a moderate roasted malt bitterness. The finish is long and luxurious, leaning toward a sweet, dessert-like aftertaste while maintaining structural roast.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied, thick, and chewy with a luscious, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, and the significant alcohol provides a gentle, smooth warmth without being harsh.
