This commemorative Double IPA delivers a lush and powerful sensory experience, celebrating a decade of brewing with an assertive hop profile. The aroma is dominated by intense tropical fruit layers and a distinct resinous, dank character, complemented by unique notes of red currants. On the palate, the high hop load of twenty-five grams per liter translates into a rounded, complex flavor where vibrant fruitiness meets a firm, clean bitterness. A supportive but neutral malt backbone ensures the hops remain the focus, while the eight percent alcohol is well-integrated, providing a smooth finish that highlights the character of the Basque Country through its bold, modern hop expression.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper in color. Displays a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head with excellent lacing. While the style allows for clarity, this heavily dry-hopped version exhibits a slight to moderate haze.
Aroma. Intensity is high, featuring a prominent resinous and dank hop character. Significant notes of tropical fruit and red berry, specifically currants, dominate the profile. The malt is neutral, clean, and grainy, remaining strictly in the background with a very low fruity fermentation profile.
Taste. Initial impression is a burst of tropical fruit and resin. The hop flavor is strong and complex, mirroring the berry and dank notes from the aroma. Bitterness is firm and moderately high but lacks harshness. It features a low, unobtrusive malt support and finishes medium-dry with a lingering hoppy, bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, rounded texture. Carbonation is moderate. There is a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth present that reflects the strength without being solventy or hot. No significant hop-derived astringency.
