Basqueland Brewing

A quintessential West Coast IPA, La Push highlights the experimental HBC 522 hop variety in collaboration with Yakima Chief Hops. Fermented with clean California Ale yeast, the sensory profile is dominated by a vibrant hop display. Expect a punchy bouquet of grapefruit, tropical guava, and zesty lime peel, which transitions into deeper layers of fresh pine needle and soft floral notes. The palate is defined by bright citrus and resinous pine, supported by a lean, grainy malt structure that ensures the hops remain the focus. A firm, lingering bitterness provides a crisp, refreshing finish reminiscent of the Pacific coastline.

Appearance. Medium gold to light amber in color with brilliant clarity. Pours with a medium-sized, off-white, persistent head that leaves fine lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, guava, and lime peel. These fruit-forward traits are supported by fresh pine and subtle floral accents. Malt character is low and clean, offering a simple grainy sweetness. The fermentation profile is very clean with no significant esters.

Taste. The initial impression is decidedly hop-forward, showcasing bright citrus zest and sticky pine resin from the HBC 522 hops. Malt flavor is low, providing a clean, grainy base with minimal sweetness. Bitterness is medium-high to high, lingering pleasantly into a dry, crisp finish. The aftertaste is resinous and clean.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, crisp texture. Carbonation is moderate-high, providing a refreshing bite. Alcohol warmth is very light and well-integrated at 6.8% ABV, with no perceptible astringency.
