This collaboration between Basqueland and Malandar delivers a Hazy IPA that celebrates New Zealand hops with a dense, luminous pour. The sensory profile is dominated by a vibrant, tropical intensity, layering notes of passion fruit, guava, and a distinct white grape character typical of Southern Hemisphere varieties. A soft, pillowy malt backbone provides a bready foundation that supports the high hop saturation without veering into sweetness. The experience is exceptionally smooth, featuring a restrained bitterness that allows the lush fruit esters and hop-derived oils to take center stage, finishing with a clean, lingering resonance of lime zest and stone fruit.
Appearance. Straw to light amber with a luminous, hazy opacity. Features a medium, rocky, meringue-like white head with high retention and elegant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of tropical fruit, including passion fruit and guava, alongside lime citrus and crushed grape. Background notes are clean, grainy, and lightly bready with no caramel or toast.
Taste. High fruity hop flavor mirroring the tropical and citrus aroma. Low to medium-high perceived bitterness that is well-masked by a full body. Malt flavor is low and bready, leading to a smooth, off-dry finish with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a smooth, soft texture and no harshness. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift, and a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is noticeable.
