This West Coast Double IPA offers a vibrant sensory profile defined by the intentional use of Simcoe and Ekuanot hops. Simcoe provides a foundational layer of resinous pine and sharp grapefruit, while Ekuanot elevates the experience with distinctive herbaceous notes and pithy citrus accents. The aroma is punchy and fresh, leading into a flavor profile where hop intensity reigns over a clean, lean malt backbone. Reflecting its style, the beer is remarkably dry on the palate with a firm, pleasant bitterness that lingers cleanly into the finish. The 8.2% ABV is expertly integrated, offering a smooth warmth that enhances its bold character.
Appearance. Deep gold to light copper (8-10 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Supports a moderate, persistent white head with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent grapefruit, pine resin, and a unique herbal, sage-like quality. Background malt is low and neutral, showing a clean, crackery character with a light citrus fermentation ester.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impact of orange zest and earthy pine from Simcoe, followed by spicy, green herbal notes from Ekuanot. Bitterness is high and firm but never harsh. The malt is soft and unobtrusive, leading to a bone-dry finish with a long, resinous, and clean bitter aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly resinous texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. Features a restrained, clean alcohol warmth and no hop-derived astringency.
