This Red IPA presents a harmonious interplay between traditional resinous depths and modern fruity complexity. Heavy dry hopping with Enigma introduces striking layers of crushed red currants and raspberries, which are seamlessly integrated with a sturdy, toasted malt foundation. On the hot side, Simcoe provides a classic backbone of fresh forest pine and earthy resin that anchors the more volatile berry notes. The result is a vibrant Specialty IPA that balances the characteristic caramel and toffee richness of a red ale with a clean, assertive bitterness, finishing with a lingering trail of berry skins and citrus zest.
Appearance. Deep amber to reddish-copper (11–17 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Pours with a persistent, off-white to light tan head that leaves decorative lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent notes of fresh forest pine, resin, and deep red berry characteristics like currant and raspberry. Supported by a moderate malt presence of toasted bread and light caramel sweetness.
Taste. Initial impression is hop-forward with flavors of sticky pine and earthy resin from Simcoe, followed by the complex red fruit and berry notes of Enigma. A medium-low malt flavor provides a base of biscuit and caramel toffee. Medium-high bitterness leads into a dry, clean finish with a lingering resinous aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly creamy texture. Moderate carbonation and a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth that complements the hop bitterness without becoming harsh.
