Barney's Beer

This Double IPA is a vibrant sensory explosion, pushing hop saturation to its peak through a triple dry-hop regimen of Citra in three distinct forms. A robust grist of Scottish Extra Pale, Chit Malt, Naked Malted Oats, and Torrified Wheat creates a dense, hazy foundation that supports an overwhelming fruit punch character. Expect a rush of ripe mango, zesty grapefruit, and sweet citrus oils driven by the hops and Tropical Paradise yeast. Despite its sticky texture and saturated hop profile, it maintains the requisite drinkability of the style, finishing with a smooth, lingering hop presence and clean, firm bitterness.

Appearance. SRM 6-8. Deep gold to light orange with a pronounced, opaque haze. Features a dense, persistent white head with excellent lacing.

Aroma. Intense hop aroma dominated by tropical fruit and citrus. Prominent notes of mango, grapefruit, and lime zest are layered over a supportive, clean, grainy malt backbone. Fermentation is characterized by moderate tropical fruit esters and a hint of clean alcohol.

Taste. Initial impression is an intense burst of citrus and tropical fruit. Strong Citra hop flavors of grapefruit and mango dominate. Bitterness is high but exceptionally smooth, lacking any harshness. The malt character is soft and bready, providing a neutral platform for the hops. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering, resinous hop aftertaste and a clean, refreshing bitterness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creaminess and smooth, velvet-like texture. Carbonation is moderate. Displays light, well-integrated alcohol warmth and a slight, pleasant stickiness on the lips without astringency.
