Barney's Beer Gravity
NEIPA - New England IPA 4.7 º
Gravity is a sessionable Hazy IPA that punches well above its weight, delivering a concentrated sensory experience. A grist of Clear Choice Pale, Oats, and Torrified Wheat provides a robust, bready backbone that supports a significant dry-hop load. Using WHC Tropical Paradise yeast to amplify esters, the beer explodes with pineapple and stone fruit notes from Bru-1 and Lupomax Citra. Enigma adds layers of ripe melon and berry, while Centennial provides a subtle floral lift on the hot side. The result is an intensely juicy, tropical profile with a soft, pillowy texture and a notably lingering, sweet finish.
Appearance. 3-5 SRM. Pale gold with a dense, opaque haze that gives the beer a luminous glow. Features a thick, rocky, white head with high retention and persistent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma dominated by pineapple, passion fruit, and ripe mango. Moderate esters of peach and apricot from the Tropical Paradise yeast. The malt presence is low and bready, featuring grainy notes from the wheat and oats without any caramel or toast character.
Taste. Initial impression is a wave of tropical punch and citrus zest. High fruity hop flavor leads to a soft, grainy malt sweetness. Bitterness is low and smooth, never harsh, allowing the juicy hop character to dominate. The finish is off-dry to sweet, with a long-lasting aftertaste of tropical fruit and melon.
Mouthfeel. Medium to medium-full body, exhibiting a smooth, creamy, and pillowy texture from the high oat and wheat content. Carbonation is moderate. No alcohol warmth or hop astringency is present.
