This sophisticated Italian Grape Ale showcases the rich heritage of Sardinian Cannonau grape must, blending seamlessly with a robust malt backbone. It pours a deep ruby-copper with a delicate pinkish foam. The aroma is intensely vinous, offering layers of red cherries, dark plums, and a hint of wild berries supported by subtle, bready malts. On the palate, the Cannonau contribution is prominent, delivering elegant red fruit flavors and a touch of tannic structure that balances the 8% alcohol warmth. A vibrant carbonation lifts the vinous complexity, leading to a dry, slightly acidic, and lingering fruity finish that remains clean and balanced.
Appearance. Deep copper to ruby-red color (approx. 18-22 SRM). Pinkish-white, fine-beaded head with moderate retention and light lacing. Generally clear with a brilliant, jewel-like luster.
Aroma. Moderate to high intensity. Dominant vinous character of red grapes with notes of raspberry, cherry, and plum. Low bready malt aroma. Hop aroma is absent. Very low esters reminiscent of red wine fermentation; no diacetyl or oxidation.
Taste. Initial impression of red fruit sweetness transitioning to a complex, wine-like must profile. Distinct flavors of black cherry, strawberry, and a hint of grape skin spice. Malt is supportive and toasted. Bitterness is low, allowing the grape acidity to provide balance. Finish is dry and vinous with a lingering fruit aftertaste.
