Heartbreak Export is a sophisticated Foreign Extra Stout that delivers a profound sensory experience defined by its rich, dark character. The aromatic profile is dominated by intense notes of espresso and bittersweet cacao, supported by a subtle undercurrent of dried fruit esters. On the palate, the roast intensity is high but smooth, avoiding harshness while providing a firm foundation for the moderate-to-high bitterness. Its 7.7% ABV provides a sophisticated alcohol warmth that integrates seamlessly with the full, creamy body. The finish is notably dry, leaving a lingering impression of dark chocolate and roasted grain that invites another sip.
Appearance. Very deep brown to opaque black (35-40 SRM). Topped by a thick, persistent tan head with excellent lacing and retention.
Aroma. High intensity roasted malt character featuring prominent espresso and dark chocolate notes. Subordinate hints of molasses and dark plum esters are present, alongside a clean, subtle alcohol warmth. Hop aroma is negligible.
Taste. Bold initial impression of dark roasted grains and cacao. Mid-palate reveals unsweetened espresso and a touch of licorice. Bitterness is medium-high, providing firm balance against the rich malt. Finishes moderately dry with a lingering roasted bitterness and clean fermentation character.
