This Imperial Stout presents a sophisticated marriage of deep roasted grains and barrel-derived complexity. Drawing from a blend of fresh and 12-month barrel-aged stout from Spirit Labs, the sensory profile is defined by an elegant layering of toasted coconut and creamy vanilla that accents rather than overwhelms the base. The presence of dark chocolate and espresso from the malt provides a robust foundation, while the barrel influence contributes subtle oak and spirit-driven depth. It is a bold, velvety experience where the 13% alcohol is exceptionally well-integrated, leading to a lingering, bittersweet finish that balances charred malt with smooth, tropical sweetness.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, deep tan head that shows moderate retention, eventually subsiding to a persistent ring and leaving viscous legs on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity with a rich blend of roasted coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and charred grain. The coconut provides a toasted, nutty top note, complemented by floral vanilla and oaky vanillin. Moderate dark fruit esters of prune and fig are present, alongside a smooth, clean alcohol warmth.

Taste. An intense initial impression of cocoa and espresso-like roast. The mid-palate reveals nuanced layers of creamy vanilla and dry, toasted coconut that harmonize with the barrel's oak and spirit character. Bitterness is firm but balanced by the high gravity and residual malt sweetness. The finish is long and complex, transitioning from roasted bitterness to a lingering, warming dark fruit and vanilla aftertaste.

Mouthfeel. Full-bodied and highly viscous with a chewy, velvety texture. Carbonation is low to moderate, enhancing the beer's lusciousness. A smooth, gentle alcohol warmth is noticeable but lacks any sharp or solventy edges.
