Sunset Drift is a vibrant Hazy IPA that captures a tropical atmosphere through its saturated hop profile. High-intensity layers of candied orange and lush stone fruit dominate the experience, driven by the expressive Nectaron and Citra Cryo additions. The inclusion of Cashmere hops introduces a sophisticated soft melon and tropical fruit complexity that melds seamlessly with the classic citrus punch of Citra. A supportive, grainy malt base provides a pillowy structure, ensuring the beer remains soft and juicy on the palate. The finish is remarkably smooth, emphasizing fruit-forward biotransformation over bitterness, evoking the glowing warmth of a tropical sunset.
Appearance. Straw to light orange (5 SRM) with a heavy, opaque haze and a luminous shine. Pours with a thick, rocky, meringue-like white head that demonstrates excellent retention and leaves dense lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop-forward bouquet featuring ripe mango, passionfruit, and candied orange peel. Subtle nuances of sweet melon and stone fruit emerge as it warms. Malt character is low and clean, suggesting fresh bread or flaked grains, with no detectable caramel or toast.
Taste. Initial impression is an explosion of tropical nectar and tangerine. Medium-low bitterness is exceptionally smooth, allowing flavors of apricot and cantaloupe to lead. The malt provides a soft, neutral platform that balances the hop oils. Finishes off-dry and juicy with a lingering, clean fruit aftertaste and no hop harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, creamy, and pillowy texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift without being prickly. No astringency or hop burn is present, with just a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
