Mind the Gap is a vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases the collaborative mastery of Banks and Cloudwater. It pours with a luminous, opaque glow, releasing an intense perfume of tropical fruit. The strategic use of Citra, Galaxy, and Vic Secret hops delivers a saturated sensory experience defined by ripe passion fruit, zesty lime, and crushed pineapple. A soft, pillowy malt base provides a bready foundation that carries the hop intensity through a smooth, low-bitterness finish. The result is a highly drinkable, juice-forward ale where the vibrant hop oils shine against a luxurious, silky texture, epitomizing the modern hazy style.
Appearance. Deep straw to pale orange with a dense, opaque haze providing a vibrant shine. Features a thick, rocky, meringue-like white head with excellent retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aroma dominated by tropical and citrus notes. Citra provides bright lime and grapefruit, while Galaxy and Vic Secret contribute heavy passion fruit and pineapple. Background notes of bready, grainy malt are present; fermentation is clean with subtle fruity esters.
Taste. An explosion of fruity hop flavors mirrors the aroma, leading with juicy pineapple, passion fruit, and citrus zest. The malt flavor is low but provides a soft, bready backbone. Bitterness is low to medium-low, well-masked by a full body, leading to a smooth, off-dry, and fruit-lingering finish without any hop harshness.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a noticeably soft, silky mouthfeel. Carbonation is moderate. There is no astringency or harshness, and the 6.4% ABV provides only a very light, well-integrated warmth.
