Ballast Point Brut IPA is a masterclass in effervescence and clarity, presenting as a shimmering liquid gold pour. This Specialty IPA deviates from the resinous norm by offering a bone-dry finish and a remarkably light body, reminiscent of a fine sparkling wine. The sensory experience is dominated by an explosion of juicy, citrus hop character, providing high intensity without the weight of residual sugars. While the bitterness remains restrained and light, the crispness is amplified by high carbonation. It represents a fantastic voyage into the leaner side of hops, where bright fruit notes shine against a minimalist malt backdrop.

Appearance. 3–5 SRM. Liquid gold in color with brilliant clarity. A bright white, frothy head shows excellent persistence, leaving delicate lacing as it recedes.

Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring vibrant citrus zest, grapefruit, and subtle tropical notes. Malt character is very low to neutral, reminiscent of white bread flour or crackers. Fermentation is clean with no significant yeast esters.

Taste. The initial impression is remarkably crisp and dry. Hop flavors of orange peel and lemon dominate, supported by a very low, neutral malt profile. Bitterness is light and smooth, significantly lower than a standard American IPA. The finish is bone-dry and clean, with a short aftertaste that leaves a refreshing citrus trail.

Mouthfeel. Light-bodied with a very thin, lean texture. High carbonation provides a spritzy, champagne-like effervescence. Alcohol warmth is very subtle and well-integrated. No astringency.
