This Double IPA showcases a sophisticated synergy between Citra and Loral hops, creating a sensory profile that expands beyond traditional tropical boundaries. The Citra provides a punchy foundation of grapefruit and lime, while the strategic use of Loral introduces elegant floral, herbal, and peppery nuances that redefine the citrus presentation. At 8.2% ABV, the beer remains remarkably lean and drinkable, supported by a clean, neutral malt backbone that allows the hop intensity to lead. It finishes crisp and dry with a firm bitterness, delivering a layered experience of bright fruit and refined botanical complexity characteristic of a modern high-gravity ale.
Appearance. Gold to light orange-copper (7-10 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that provides excellent lacing. Clarity is generally clear, though a very slight haze from heavy dry-hopping is acceptable.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma with prominent citrus, lime, and grapefruit notes from Citra, complemented by the floral, herbal, and slightly spicy perfume of Loral. Very low, clean, grainy maltiness in the background with a neutral fermentation profile and a subtle, integrated alcohol note.
Taste. Initial hop-forward impression of orange peel and tropical fruit followed by a distinct floral and peppery herbal layer. High bitterness that is firm but lacks harshness. Malt flavor is low and supportive, providing a clean, crackery base. The finish is dry to medium-dry with a lingering hoppy aftertaste and a clean, smooth alcohol presence.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Medium-high carbonation. Features a restrained, smooth alcohol warmth without being solventy. Low to no hop-derived astringency.

Loral is a hop we’ve always really liked, but couldn’t find a place for in our lineup. With strategic dosing of Loral, it completely changes the way Citra is presented, and we absolutely love it.
