Badger Tanglefoot presents as a crisp, bright Blonde Ale with a more assertive bitterness than typically expected for the style. The malt base is subtly grainy and bread-like, providing a clean canvas for the Goldings hops to shine with distinctive floral and earthy notes. Fermentation-derived esters provide nuanced hints of melon and pear, which are quickly balanced by a citrusy hop character. Despite these fruity highlights, the beer leads with a pronounced bitterness and an extremely dry finish that leaves the palate refreshed. Appearance. Deep gold in color (approx. 5-6 SRM). Brilliant clarity with a moderate white head that exhibits fair retention and light lacing.

Aroma. Moderate grainy-sweet malt aroma with light bread notes. Low to moderate hop aroma featuring the floral and spicy character of Goldings hops, accompanied by light citrus notes and moderate fruity esters reminiscent of ripe melon and pear.

Taste. Initial soft bready maltiness is quickly overtaken by a firm, pronounced hop bitterness that predominates over fruity flavors. Hop flavors include floral Goldings character and sharp citrus touches. Low fruity esters of pear and melon persist mid-palate. Finishes extremely dry and clean with a lingering, crisp bitterness.

Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate to high carbonation. Very smooth and refreshing without being heavy; lacks any harsh astringency despite the higher perceived bitterness.
