Bad Seed Brewing Nelson John presents a vibrant sensory profile defined by a complex hop blend of Idaho 7 Cryo, Mosaic, Citra, and Nelson Sauvin. This hazy American IPA leads with an explosion of crushed white grapes and gooseberry from the Nelson Sauvin, immediately followed by the tropical intensity of pineapple and peach driven by Idaho 7 Cryo. Mosaic adds a subtle layer of berry and stone fruit, while Citra provides a refreshing grapefruit zest. Despite its sessionable strength, it maintains a clean, grainy malt backbone that allows the multifaceted hop character to remain the focus, finishing with a crisp, aromatic persistence.
Appearance. Medium gold with a distinct haze. Features a medium-sized, creamy white head with excellent persistence and fine lacing.
Aroma. High intensity hop aroma featuring prominent white wine, gooseberry, and tropical notes of pineapple and mango. Subtle hints of citrus peel and blueberry emerge against a low, clean, bready malt background. Clean fermentation profile with no discernible esters.
Taste. Bold hop-forward flavors mirroring the aroma: grapefruit, passionfruit, and crushed grape. Bitterness is moderate but firm, well-integrated into the soft malt profile. A light, grainy malt character supports the hops without being sweet. Finishes medium-dry with a lingering tropical fruit and light resinous hop character.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a smooth, soft texture. Moderate-high carbonation provides a lively, refreshing crispness. No alcohol warmth or astringency.
