This Märzen presents a sophisticated balance of traditional German elegance and rustic depth. The fermentation is impeccably clean, allowing the classic hop profile to shine. Appearance. Deep amber-orange with brilliant clarity. Pours with a dense, persistent off-white foam stand that leaves fine lacing on the glass (approx. 10-12 SRM).
Aroma. Moderate to high malt intensity featuring rich, bready notes and toasted bread crust with a subtle honey-like sweetness. Clean lager fermentation character with no esters. Low hop aroma presenting as spicy black pepper, woody notes, and a faint floral-citrus lift.
Taste. Initial malt-forward impression of toasted grains and bready Munich malt richness. The palate is complex but clean, suggesting a rustic malt depth balanced by moderate hop bitterness. Hop flavors of spice, pepper, and light citrus are present but secondary to the malt. Finishes moderately dry and elegant, with a lingering toasty aftertaste that is never cloying.

For the third round of Braufrisch we have teamed up with beer writer Christian Andersen & Master Brewer Jens Eiken, authors of the book "Den Nøgne Øl" - to create a Festbier - our collaborative take on a classic German Lager for the Oktoberfest - in the style of a Märzen.
Brewed with Bavarian Pilsner, Munich and Vienna malts, to give a robust, bready malt character with delicate notes of freshly baked bread crust, honey and a rustic malt aroma, like smelling fresh malt straight out of the bag.
We've hopped it with Perle, Hersbrucker to get that classic spicy, black pepper and woody notes along with a touch of floral and citrusy qualities from a touch of Saphir.
