Designed as a monument to traditional brewing, this English Barley Wine commands attention with its deeply layered profile, born from an intensive double mash of English malts. The massive 14% ABV delivers a luxurious, slow-sipping experience where rich, caramelized sugars meet deep notes of dark plums, raisins, and complex black cherry. Subtle, earthy undertones from classic English hops provide a balancing structure against the thick, decadent sweetness. Appearance. Deep mahogany to dark copper with brilliant ruby highlights. Forms a thin, creamy, off-white head with low retention that quickly subsides to a fine collar, leaving thick, slow-moving legs along the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Strongly malty and decadent, boasting rich notes of dark caramel, molasses, toffee, and toasted English malts. Prominent dried fruit esters of fig, raisin, and prune blend with a mild, earthy, and marmalade-like English hop aroma. A soft, rounded, port-like alcohol character is highly evident as it warms.
Taste. An initial wave of intense, multi-layered sweet malt delivers rich flavors of caramelized sugars, biscuit, and dark fruit leather. Mouthfeel. Very full-bodied and chewy, with a velvety, luscious, and viscous texture. Carbonation is low to moderate. A distinct, smooth, and deep alcohol warmth coats the palate without any harshness or fusel burn.
