This Double IPA presents an intense aromatic display driven by a generous combination of Citra and Rakau hops. The nose is greeted by a complex layer of ripe apricot, peach, and passionfruit from the Rakau, seamlessly integrated with Citra’s signature notes of grapefruit and mango. A clean, neutral malt base provides just enough support to highlight the assertive bitterness without becoming heavy. The palate follows through with resinous depth and bright tropical citrus, leading to a crisp, dry finish that masks the 8.3% ABV with remarkable drinkability. It is a bold, hop-forward experience with a smooth, lingering fruit-skin bitterness.
Appearance.Deep gold to light orange-copper (7-9 SRM). Pours with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head that leaves fine lacing. Clarity is high with a very faint chill haze acceptable.
Aroma.Intense hop aroma features a blend of stone fruit—notably peach and apricot—alongside tropical mango and citrusy grapefruit. The malt character is low and neutral, offering a clean, grainy backdrop. No significant esters; a clean fermentation profile with a soft, pleasant alcohol note.
Taste.Dominant hop flavors of citrus rind and passionfruit are followed by a firm, moderately high bitterness that remains smooth and lacks harshness. The malt is soft and unobtrusive, allowing the hop complexity to lead. Finishes very dry and clean with a lingering resinous and fruity aftertaste.
Mouthfeel.Medium body with a smooth, almost creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate to medium-high. A restrained, warming alcohol presence is noticeable but stays integrated, avoiding any solventy heat.
