Bach Brewing's Velvet Marley is a decadent American Stout that masterfully blends the structure of dark roasted malts with the indulgence of a fruit-forward dessert. Deep, velvety layers of Peruvian Cacao and rich chocolate malts form a luxurious base reminiscent of a classic Cherry Ripe. Vibrant notes of juicy cherries, raspberries, and boysenberries weave through the roast, offering a bright, jammy contrast to the bittersweet cocoa. Despite its dessert inspiration, it maintains the assertive character of a classic stout, finishing with a lingering warmth and a smooth, chocolate-coated mouthfeel that perfectly captures a contented, laid-back spirit.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (approx. 40 SRM). Pours with a thick, persistent, tan to light brown head that leaves dense lacing on the glass.

Aroma. High intensity. Dominant aromas of bittersweet chocolate and roasted coffee from the dark malts and Peruvian Cacao. Pronounced esters of ripe cherry, raspberry, and boysenberry provide a jammy sweetness. Low resinous hop aroma is present but tucked beneath the rich dessert-like notes.

Taste. Rich initial impression of dark chocolate and roasted grain. The mid-palate is dominated by tart yet sweet berry flavors—cherry, raspberry, and boysenberry—intertwining with the deep cocoa of the Peruvian Cacao. Medium-high bitterness balances the malt sweetness, though the finish remains somewhat sweet and lingering with a velvety chocolate aftertaste. Low citrusy hop flavor.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full to full body with a creamy, smooth texture. Moderate-high carbonation provides lift against the richness. Noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth at 6.6 percent. Very low roast-derived astringency.
