Kentucky Nights presents a sophisticated evolution of the American Stout, leaning into the exotic, dark fruit depth of a Tropical Stout base. Aromas of charred American oak and rich Kentucky bourbon intertwine with a distinct, velvety maple sweetness. The palate is defined by high-intensity roasted grains, offering notes of bittersweet chocolate and espresso, while the double-oaked bourbon infusion adds layers of vanillin and toasted wood. Despite its 8.2% ABV and rich flavor profile, the mouthfeel remains surprisingly approachable. The finish marries aggressive hop bitterness with a smooth, warming alcohol presence, leaving a lingering trail of dark caramel and spirituous complexity.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 40+). It supports a large, persistent head of light brown foam with excellent lacing.
Aroma. High intensity featuring strong roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Prominent maple sweetness and vanilla-rich Kentucky bourbon notes are supported by toasted oak and moderate fruity esters. Low resiny hop aroma.
Taste. Initial impression is a blend of roasted malt and spirituous warmth. Flavors of bittersweet chocolate and burnt coffee grounds are balanced by a medium malt sweetness and distinct maple syrup. Medium-high bitterness provides structure against the double-oaked bourbon tannins. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering roasted quality and smooth alcohol.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a somewhat creamy texture. Carbonation is moderate-high. Features a noticeable but smooth alcohol warmth and very low roast-derived astringency.
