Supernauta is a vibrant Wild Specialty Beer that bridges the gap between a hazy New England Style IPA and a refreshing sour ale. Pouring with a characteristic haze, it immediately offers an intense, fruity-succade nose driven by El Dorado hops, which provide layers of candied citrus, pineapple, and tropical fruit. The tart, lactic acidity provides a sharp counterpoint to the creamy, malt-forward base, resulting in a profile that is both puckering and lush. Balanced to perfection, this 4.8% ABV ale finishes dry and crisp, emphasizing the bright, citrusy essential oils of the El Dorado hops without lingering bitterness.
Appearance. SRM 3-5. Straw to light gold with a persistent, opaque haze characteristic of the New England style. Forms a moderate white head with fair to poor retention due to high acidity, leaving light lacing.
Aroma. High intensity aromatics featuring prominent candied citrus peel, pineapple, and mango from El Dorado hops. A clean, sharp lactic tartness provides a bright backdrop, complemented by a subtle, bready malt sweetness and tropical fruit esters.
Taste. An initial impression of sharp, refreshing acidity quickly gives way to tropical fruit flavors of melon and citrus. The El Dorado hops contribute a distinct succade or fruit-gem sweetness despite the dry fermentation. Low hop bitterness is further masked by the tartness. The malt profile is soft and bready, finishing clean and tart with a lingering citrus aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body, appearing lighter than a standard IPA due to the acidic profile. Moderate to high carbonation provides a crisp, prickly sensation. No alcohol warmth is present; the mouthfeel is smooth with a slight creaminess from the grain bill but finishes with a dry, refreshing snap.
