Attik Brewing Stratagema
Stratagema is a vibrant Hazy IPA that showcases a sophisticated hop profile through multiple layers of intensity. The aromatic lead is dominated by the specific impact of Strata and Strata CGX, delivering a complex fusion of dank pine and lush passion fruit. Citra and Cryo Centennial contribute a bright layer of citrus and delicate floral notes that lift the sensory experience. On the palate, the soft, bready malt provides a cushion for high-intensity tropical flavors, while the finish remains smooth without harshness. This collaboration represents a modern approach to the style, balancing a massive hop presence with a supple, approachable mouthfeel.
Appearance. Straw to light amber (5 SRM); opaque with a distinct hazy glow; thick, meringue-like white head with high retention and significant lacing.
Aroma. High intensity of tropical fruit, specifically mango and passion fruit, combined with a dank, resinous pine. Bright citrus notes of grapefruit and lime are present alongside subtle floral undertones. Malt is low and bready, serving as a neutral backdrop.
Taste. Initial impression is exceptionally juicy with high fruity hop flavors of pineapple and citrus zest. Low bready malt flavor supports the hop intensity. Bitterness is moderate and well-integrated, avoiding any sharp or harsh edges. The finish is off-dry and smooth with a lingering tropical aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a soft, silky, and smooth texture. Moderate carbonation provides a gentle lift. Very light alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated. No astringency or raw starch texture.
