Attic Brew Co.

Moorings is a powerful American Stout that masterfully navigates the depths of roasted grain character. This 6.4% brew opens with a profound aromatic profile of freshly roasted coffee and bittersweet dark chocolate. On the palate, a complex blend of specialty malts delivers a rich biscuit foundation, supporting assertive layers of espresso and cocoa. The hop presence provides a clean, balancing bitterness that keeps the finish from becoming overly heavy, while subtle resinous notes peek through the roast. With a luxurious, creamy texture and a lingering, dry char, it exemplifies the robust, hoppy intensity of its style while maintaining a smooth, sophisticated balance.

Appearance. Jet black and opaque (SRM 38). Topped with a large, persistent, light tan head that exhibits excellent retention and dense lacing.

Aroma. High intensity roasted malt character featuring prominent notes of freshly ground coffee and dark chocolate. Underlying hints of toasted biscuit are present, complemented by a low, resinous hop aroma. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.

Taste. Bold initial impression of roasted coffee beans and bittersweet chocolate. A medium-low malt sweetness provides a biscuit-like mid-palate before a firm, medium-high hop bitterness takes hold. The finish is medium-dry with a lingering, pleasant roasted grain character and a faint touch of citrusy hop flavor.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a notable creaminess. Carbonation is moderate. A light, smooth alcohol warmth is present and well-integrated, with only a very slight roast-derived astringency.
