Atom Mithril is a sophisticated Specialty IPA that expertly balances modern hop intensity with traditional Belgian fermentation. The sensory experience is defined by a vibrant interplay of tangy mixed citrus and fresh melon, a direct result of a generous dry hop featuring Centennial and Lorien. These floral hop notes are seamlessly integrated with expressive Belgian yeast, contributing a distinct fruity, bubblegummy ester profile. The mouthfeel is notably soft and pillowy, providing a luxurious cushion for the complex flavors to develop before concluding in a crisp, dry finish. It represents a contemporary, hop-forward evolution that remains deeply rooted in expressive yeast character.
Appearance. Deep gold to light amber; tall, persistent white head with fine lacing; slight haze present from the heavy dry hopping.
Aroma. High intensity; prominent grapefruit and floral notes from Centennial hops paired with the fresh melon and wildflower character of Lorien. Secondary notes of fruity esters and sweet bubblegum from the Belgian yeast are supported by a very low, bready malt background.
Taste. Initial flavors of tangy citrus and ripe melon lead into a complex mid-palate of spicy phenols and sweet bubblegum. Hop bitterness is firm and supportive, consistent with the IPA style, leading to a bone-dry finish. The malt presence is restrained and neutral, allowing the yeast and hops to dominate.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a soft, pillowy texture; moderate-high carbonation creates a lively, effervescent sensation on the palate; very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
