NEIPA - New England IPA 9.5 º
This Double IPA presents an intense aromatic profile defined by its complex, multi-layered hop selection. High-impact notes of grapefruit and lime from Citra mesh with the lush apricot and stone fruit character of Rakau. Nelson Sauvin introduces a sophisticated layer of crushed white grapes and gooseberry, while Comet adds a zesty, wild citrus edge. Despite the potent 9.5% ABV, the beer maintains high drinkability with a lean, grainy malt base that allows the hop bitterness to shine. The experience is bright and punchy, finishing dry with a clean, lingering resinous quality that defines the modern take on the style.
Appearance. Gold to light copper in color (7-10 SRM) with a moderate-sized, persistent off-white head leaving significant lacing. Clarity is mostly clear with a very slight, modern chill haze.
Aroma. Intense hop aroma featuring prominent notes of grapefruit, passion fruit, and peach. Distinctive white wine and gooseberry accents are present alongside a zesty citrus background. Malt is low and neutral, providing a clean, grainy foundation with a faint hint of alcohol warmth.
Taste. Strong, complex hop flavors of tropical fruit, citrus zest, and white grape dominate the palate. The bitterness is high but smooth, lacking harshness. A light, supportive malt character offers minimal sweetness, leading into a very dry finish with a long, resinous, and fruity aftertaste. Fermentation is clean with very low esters.
Mouthfeel. Medium body with a smooth, slightly oily texture. Carbonation is medium-high, providing a crisp bite. A noticeable but well-integrated alcohol warmth is present without being hot or solventy.
