This collaborative Extra Pale Ale presents a vibrant, citrus-forward profile that elevates the classic American Pale Ale framework through the addition of orange and lime. A bright, zesty punch of fresh citrus dominates the senses, seamlessly integrating with a moderately high hop presence. Built on a lean, neutral pale malt base, the 6.5% ABV provides a sturdy backbone that supports the fruit-driven aromatics without overshadowing them. The experience is defined by its crispness and refreshing zest, leading into a clean, moderately bitter finish. It represents a modern, fruit-infused take on the style, balancing essential hop character with the sharp, essential oils of real citrus.
Appearance. Pale golden (approx. 5-6 SRM). Large, white, frothy head with good retention and light lacing. Brilliant clarity with a slight shimmer from the citrus oils.
Aroma. High intensity. Bright, zesty orange peel and sharp lime juice lead the bouquet, supported by floral and piney hop notes. Low, grainy, neutral malt sweetness provides a clean backdrop. Fermentation is clean with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression of pithy orange and lime zest. Hop flavor is moderate, leaning toward resinous and floral notes. Medium-high bitterness provides a firm structure against the lean, cracker-like pale malt. The finish is dry and crisp with a lingering lime-like acidity and clean, non-harsh hop bitterness in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate-high carbonation that enhances the citrus zest. A light alcohol warmth is present but well-integrated. Smooth finish with a very slight, refreshing astringency from the fruit skins.
