This decadent Oatmeal Stout offers an indulgent sensory journey, merging traditional dark malt complexity with confectionery accents. The presence of chocolate malts establishes a deep cocoa foundation, perfectly complemented by the prominent, sweet aroma of cherries and the nutty, marzipan-led character of amaretto almond. A velvety, silky mouthfeel—driven by the oatmeal addition—carries these dessert-like flavors across the palate with luxurious weight. Subtle roasted coffee undertones provide a counterpoint to the fruit sweetness, leading into a smooth, creamy finish that balances earthy notes with a lingering hint of stone fruit and toasted nuts.

Appearance. Opaque black with deep mahogany highlights; features a thick, creamy, and persistent tan-colored head with excellent lacing.

Aroma. High intensity featuring rich milk chocolate and roasted coffee malts, interlaced with strong sweet cherry notes and a distinct almond-like marzipan aroma. Low earthy hop character; clean fermentation profile.

Taste. Initial impression of sweet cherry and milk chocolate, followed by a mid-palate of nutty amaretto and roasted grains. Medium bitterness provides balance against the sweetness. The finish is medium-sweet and creamy, with a lingering aftertaste of toasted nuts and cocoa.

Mouthfeel. Medium-full body with a remarkably smooth, silky, and velvety texture derived from the oatmeal. Moderate carbonation and a light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.

ARBOR ALES - Arbor Ales have been brewing beer in the fine city of Bristol since early 2007. From their site in Easton, the team currently brews and packages in excess of one and a half million pints a year. That’s pints, full pints and nothing but pints (apart from the odd 440ml can, but they don’t talk about those). Never shying away from trying out new ideas, they have an extensive back catalogue of recipes covering a vast array of styles and ABV’s.
