Arbànt’s Leandra is a sophisticated Brett Beer that showcases the mastery of a 33-month maturation process. This wild Saison, aged in Merlot barrels, presents a complex interplay between rustic grains and refined fermentation. The aroma is a layered tapestry of sun-dried hay, farmhouse funk, and vinous red fruit, underpinned by the nutty character of spelt and the spicy edge of rye. On the palate, expect a bone-dry delivery of tropical fruit esters and subtle oak tannins. The blend of three distinct vintages creates a harmonious balance of earthy depth and bright acidity, finishing with a lingering, clean, and effervescent dryness.
Appearance. Deep gold to amber (8-12 SRM). Slightly hazy due to the inclusion of unmalted wheat, spelt, and oats. Moderate, frothy off-white head with fair retention and delicate lacing.
Aroma. High intensity. Dominated by Brettanomyces-driven funk, including notes of wet hay, leather, and earth. Distinct vinous character from Merlot barrels provides red grape and oak nuances. Supported by a spicy rye malt profile and fruity esters of apricot and lemon.
Taste. Initial impression is bone-dry and complex. A rustic grain bill of rye, spelt, and oats provides a nutty, spicy foundation. Brettanomyces character is prominent but integrated, offering earthy funk and tropical fruit. Hop bitterness is low, allowing oak tannins and a subtle vinous acidity to provide structure. The finish is crisp, clean, and highly attenuated.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with a soft creaminess from the oats and wheat. High carbonation creates a lively, effervescent mouthfeel. Subtle, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present. Low tannin-derived astringency from the wood maturation.
