Antares Oro Negro
3 Ratings
Black IPA 6.6 º 63 IBU
Antares Oro Negro is a striking Black IPA that balances the punch of American hops with a refined dark malt backbone. The nose is dominated by high hop intensity, showcasing resinous pine and bright citrus notes that contrast beautifully against a background of toasted bread. On the palate, the hop-forward character persists, delivering a firm bitterness characteristic of the style. Supporting this are restrained flavors of dark chocolate and freshly ground coffee, derived from debittered roast malts to ensure a smooth, non-burnt finish. This 6.6% ABV ale is medium-bodied and dry, offering a complex yet highly drinkable experience where dark roasted notes and vibrant hop aromatics harmoniously coexist.
Appearance. Deep black and nearly opaque with ruby highlights around the edges. Crowns with a persistent, moderate-sized tan head that leaves delicate lacing on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity hop aromatics featuring resinous pine and grapefruit zest. Subtle secondary notes of dark chocolate and lightly toasted coffee beans emerge as it warms, supported by a clean fermentation profile with very low fruity esters.
Taste. Initial impression is a surge of citrusy and piney hop flavors, followed immediately by a firm, medium-high bitterness. The malt profile provides a supportive, non-ashy foundation of cocoa and mild roast, avoiding any burnt character. Finishes dry and crisp with a lingering hop resin and a touch of roasted grain.
Mouthfeel. Smooth, medium body with moderate carbonation. A very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth is present, complemented by a slight creaminess and no detectable grain astringency.
