Anspach & Hobday Londorado: Best Bitter

Londorado: Best Bitter is a transatlantic collaboration that bridges English tradition with American craft influence. This Best Bitter pours a clear copper with a persistent off-white head. The grist, featuring a notable addition of Rye, provides a delicate peppery spice that complements a rich base of toffee and dark fruit. Classic US hops contribute layers of bright citrus and further herbal spice, lifting the aromatic profile. A hybrid fermentation of American and English ale yeast ensures a clean finish while preserving subtle fruity esters. The result is a highly sessionable ale where the assertive bitterness is balanced by a complex, toasty malt depth and a nuanced, modern hop character.
Appearance. Medium copper in color (approx. 14 SRM) with brilliant clarity. Supports a low to moderate off-white head with good retention and light lacing.
Aroma. Moderate intensity featuring a bready and toffee-like malt core layered with subtle dark stone fruit. The hop character is distinct, offering bright citrus and earthy spice. Low fruity esters are present, though the dual yeast strain provides a clean aromatic profile with just a hint of peppery rye.
Taste. Initial impressions of biscuit and toffee sweetness are quickly countered by a delicate peppery spice from the rye. Hop flavors of orange peel and resin provide a firm bitterness that leads to a dry, crisp finish. Low levels of dark fruit esters persist into the aftertaste alongside a clean, lingering hop snap.
Mouthfeel. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Smooth palate texture with no astringency and a very light, well-integrated alcohol warmth.
