This decadent Russian Imperial Stout presents a masterful layering of dessert-like complexity atop a robust, roasty foundation. Following 17 months in Widow Jane Bourbon barrels, the beer exudes deep notes of oaky vanilla, charred sugar, and a smooth spirit-forward character. The addition of Toasted Coconut provides a rich, macaroonesque sweetness that melds seamlessly with the dark chocolate and espresso character of the base malt and integrated coffee. A subtle prickle of cinnamon adds a refined spice that cuts through the beer's substantial density. It is an intensely viscous experience where the barrel’s warmth balances the lush, velvety sweetness of the adjuncts for a harmonious, lingering finish.

Appearance. Jet black and completely opaque (40+ SRM). It pours with a thick, creamy, deep tan head that shows moderate retention, eventually receding to a persistent ring. High viscosity is evident by the prominent legs that form on the glass when swirled.

Aroma. High intensity and extremely complex. Dominant notes of toasted coconut, dark chocolate, and rich bourbon lead the profile, supported by aromatic coffee and a distinct cinnamon spice. Secondary notes of vanilla, toasted oak, and dark fruits like raisins and prunes emerge as the beer warms, with no discernible hop aroma.

Taste. An initial explosion of bittersweet chocolate and espresso-like roasted malt. The mid-palate is dominated by creamy toasted coconut and the warming spice of cinnamon, which provides a pleasant contrast to the sugary barrel notes of caramel and oak. Hop bitterness is moderate but mostly masked by the heavy roast and adjunct sweetness. The finish is long and complex, featuring lingering bourbon heat, dark cocoa, and a touch of woody tannin.

Mouthfeel. Extremely full-bodied with a viscous, chewy, and velvety texture. The carbonation is low to moderate, providing just enough lift to the heavy body. A significant but smooth alcohol warmth is present throughout, accompanied by a creamy coating sensation from the coconut oils.
