This California Common pours a striking amber hue, reminiscent of the redwood bark of its namesake. The sensory profile is defined by a distinct dry-hopping of Chinook, which layers bold notes of fresh pine and sticky resin over a foundation of toasty, caramelly malts. As a warm-fermented lager, it offers a rustic complexity, balancing a firm hop bitterness with a clean, grainy malt backbone. Subtle fruity esters dance in the background, enhancing the beer’s vitality without overshadowing the traditional, woodsy hop character. It finishes crisp and dry, evocative of the refreshing, cool air of a coastal forest.

Appearance. Medium amber with copper highlights; generally clear. Features a moderate off-white head with good retention and light lacing.

Aroma. Moderate to high intensity hop character showing prominent resinous and piney notes. Supported by a low to moderate malt profile of toasted bread and light caramel. A faint, clean fruitiness is present in the background.

Taste. Initial toasted malt and caramel flavors are quickly met by a pronounced hop bitterness. The flavor profile is dominated by rustic, resinous, and piney hop notes. Finishes fairly dry and crisp with a lingering hop bitterness and a firm, grainy malt aftertaste.
