This decadent Imperial Stout offers an indulgent sensory experience reminiscent of a gourmet pastry. It pours a viscous, jet black with a dense, mocha-colored head. The aroma is dominated by high-intensity waves of toasted coconut, rich dark chocolate, and a distinct marzipan sweetness. On the palate, the experience is luscious and gooey, layered with flavors of bittersweet cocoa and a pronounced nuttiness from the almond glaze. The 11.5% alcohol provides a smooth, integrated warmth that carries the toasted coconut through a long, lingering finish. The texture is exceptionally thick and chewy, creating a harmonious balance between intense roasted malt depth and dessert-inspired adjuncts.
Appearance. Jet black and opaque (40+ SRM). Deep tan to dark brown head with moderate retention. High viscosity creates visible legs on the glass.
Aroma. High intensity. Bold notes of toasted coconut and dark chocolate dominate, followed by sweet marzipan and almond. Underlying roasted malt character provides hints of espresso and cocoa. Subtle dark fruit esters like raisin are present, though secondary to the adjuncts.
Taste. Initial impression of rich, gooey dark chocolate and toasted coconut. Moderate bitterness is present but largely masked by a heavy, dessert-like sweetness. Flavors of almond and marzipan emerge in the mid-palate. Finishes with a lingering blend of roasted grain, nuttiness, and smooth alcohol warmth without being syrupy.
Mouthfeel. Full to very full-bodied with a thick, chewy, and velvety texture. Low to moderate carbonation. Noticeable, smooth alcohol warmth that is well-integrated and never sharp or solventy.
